Charlie Louvin visits Country Music Greats studio
In case you haven't heard the news, Charlie Louvin, of the Louvin Brothers has recently released a new album. The new album self-titled, "Charlie Louvin", features a mix of well-known Country Artists providing back ground and musical support on the recordings. The album consists primarily of songs written and recorded by the Louvin Brothers. Country superstars such as, George Jones, Tom T. Hall, Bobby Bare as well as several contemporary artists like Elvis Costello and Jeff Tweedy, lend their voices across the record and perfectly complement Charlie's beautifully aging voice.
You may be surprised to hear not only is Charlie back with a new album, but he also has plans to tour the country promoting his new album. Charlie claims to be, "shoving 80 years old" as he has no intention of slowing down and feels blessed that he still has the opportunity to tour.
When Charlie entered our studio for the Country Music Greats Show (hosted by Jim Ed Brown), I couldn't help but feel the nostalgia in the air as Charlie proceeded to reminisce. Charlie told stories about different times such as when his brother, Ira, was still alive and the Louvin Brothers were heroes to folks such as a young Johnny Cash.
In my own opinion, there is not much better than having the chance to meet and spend any amount of time with our Country heroes from yesterday. I found Charlie's reflection on life made me wish there was a way to turn back time, however, listening to Charlie's new album may be the perfect way to do just that.

I have been to Charlies record shop and museum in nashville. when I walked in he was setting behind the desk. he got up and came over to me as if he had known me all his life. I wish country music had some more of the old timers around. they are leaveing us fast and no one can take their place. also Charlies Wife was there and she was just as nice and she and charlie showed us around their store and signed a C.D. that we bought. Hats Off to Charlie Louvin.
