Maxine Brown Will Be Speaking at the Delta Blues Symposium

Maxine Brown, country singer and founding member of the great vocal trio The Browns is speaking at the 13th annual Delta Blues Symposium in Jonesboro, Ar. at Arkansas State University. Maxine Brown is participating in a panel discussion on "Music Biography and Autobiography" with film maker Robert Gordon and musician Ben Sandmel.

Maxine Brown has written the acclaimed autobiography, "Looking Back to See: A Country Music Memior." It has quickly become one of University of Arkansas Press' best-selling titles and has earned her many media appearances.

"Looking Back To See: A Country Music Memior" is available on our website for $24.98.

This 366 page hardcover book details the life and times of the Browns--Jim Ed, Maxine and Bonnie as told by Maxine Brown. This memoir delves deeply into the Browns' remarkable past, beginning with the Depression-era childhood in rural south Arkansas. From it emerged a duo, Maxine and Jim Ed, and in 1954 they had a Top Ten hit with "Looking Back To See." Sister Bonnie later joined them and strenghtened by shared experience. Illustrated with never-before-published photographs, "Looking Back To See" is a remarkable story told here for the first time.

Did anyone hear about this or go to it? I just love Maxine Brown I remember listening to her as a young girl in Arkansas. If you haven't read her book you are missing out. It's good to see the book is gaining attention.
