They Call Him Fats
There's something about a Fats Domino song that makes you smile. The mixture of smooth piano playing and vocals helped propel Fats to be one of R&B's greatest artists. Not only did Fats influence R&B and Rock n Roll, even some country songs have a hint of Fats in them. A tribute album that celebrates all the contributions that Fats has made to the music canon will be released on Sept 25th. The album, very eclectic in nature, will feature artists such as Willie Nelson("I Hear You Knockin'"), Elton John("Blueberry Hill"), Paul McCartney("I Want to Walk You Home"), Tom Petty("I'm Walkin'"), and other artist such as Robert Plant, B.B. King, Norah Jones, Lucinda Williams, Neil Young, and Bonnie Raitt. The money that is made from the sales of this album will go to purchase musical instruments for public schools in New Orleans, which is Fats' hometown.
